Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned an Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located situated in Washington DC. The following year, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell is a regular as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips with the president Reagan to summits with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
